Selecting Luxury Bed Linen

Often there is some confusion regarding the benefits of luxury bed linen when compared to bedding in general. Contrary to some people's belief, luxury is more than just fancy names and thread count. Luxury linen is supposed to help you enhance and discover your own style in order to make you feel at home, confident, and blissfully relaxed in your sleeping quarters.

Many luxury linens are crafted with the finest materials. Embroidery and monogramming are often available as well. There is an endless array of style and colour to help you create the perfect mood for your bedroom, and provide the feel that you have been looking for.

You may not put what you consider a lot of money into luxury bed linen, but you want what you have to last. You should consider some things before picking out your luxury linen and luxury bedding. Make sure to measure your bed. Forget the misconception that if you know what size your mattress is, you will be fine, as often there actually is no standard measurement for linens and bed size, so they can all be different. Many of us have come home with, say, a queen size set of sheets that seem too big or too small. You do not want this to happen when buying luxury bed linen. You will want to make sure that you know the dimensions from side to side, top to bottom, and thickness.

Make sure to do your research on stockists before going to pick out your luxury bed linen. Some provide far more variety than others do. If there is a specialty linens store near you, that is great, but often there are very wide ranges and bargain prices to be had from online retailers.

Ok, let's tackle that thread count. What exactly does this mean? Thread count refers to the number of threads that go both ways in a weave measured per square inch. The higher the thread count the more luxurious the fabric is going to feel. A thread count of above 250 but no lower than 175 is recommended. If you go too high, the threads are smaller and may not wear as well as a lower thread count. To many people this is the largest decision when looking at luxury bed linen.

What blend do you buy? Go ahead and get the best that you can afford. Sheets and linens are something that you are going to be using every day. This can make the difference between a good sleep, and a deeper, higher quality sleep. It is ok to indulge with luxury bed linen.

Once you know what you want, make sure to check the linen measurements. The fitted sheets need to be deep enough to fit your mattress. Some sheets can shrink up to 7% after washing.

When it comes to your luxury bed linen and luxury bedding, make sure that you follow the laundering instructions exactly to get the best life and quality out of them. If you are going for something such as silk, you will only be able to dry clean these. Is this something you really want to do each week? This is something to consider when choosing a fabric.
