Saucepans, ovenware, bakeware… if you’re a busy cook with a growing repertoire of recipes, you’ll need all sorts of different cookware. Just as bad workmen blame their tools, every good cook knows how important it is to have the right kitchen cookware for the job in hand.

When it comes to ovenware, cooks’ preferences depend on whether they’re cooking by gas, electricity, Aga or Rayburn or modern induction. Some favour ceramic oven cookware, because it can be taken straight from oven to table, while others swear by the traditional qualities of cast iron or steel.

Bakeware accessories come in a variety of materials, styles, shapes and sizes. The latest development is silicone, which is flexible, non stick, dishwasher safe and extremely hardwearing. Traditional cooks, however, favour traditional metal cookware for their baking, but perhaps with the modern addition of loose bases, non stick surfaces and other high tech finishes.
