The unique capabilities of the Harrier 'Jump Jet' were particularly well suited to carrier operations, where the ability to take off and land in confined spaces was vital. Introduced in 1978, the Sea Harrier variant served the Royal Navy until 2006, gaining particular prominence during the Falklands Conflict of 1982 flying air defence sorties from HMS Invincible and HMS Hermes. In tribute, this Sea Harrier desk sculpture has been cast in solid aluminium and polished to a high sheen such that its subtle curves and angles catch the light.
