What is Black Friday?
Black Friday began in North America, and traditionally falls the day after the national Thanksgiving holiday. Widely regarded as the start of the Christmas shopping season in the US (a bit like the Boxing Day sales kick off the January sales over here), retailers started to offer bargains to tempt shoppers through their doors. Like so many things, think nylons, hamburgers and the Post-it note, Black Friday has made its way across the pond and it is now one of the busiest retail days in the UK shopping year.
